Price History

In volume 1, the author says that his cost is 25 rupees, but he will sell the entire finished book for 5 rupees, and is asking for advance payments, and mentions a list of people who have sent advance payments and financially helped him otherwise.

In volume 2, the author says that the price of the book is now 10 rupees, but non-Muslims can still pay 5 rupees.

On page 136 (volume 3), he says that the size of the book has exceeded 300 juz (4800 pages) and that money is urgently needed to print it. The price has been raised to 100 rupees, but he is giving it away for 15 rupees.

Accorging to fizzaheer, only about 1/10 of the book was ever printed, although the complete set was still being sold as late as 1893.
