This is the United States of America -- where Christians are being asked by Rick Perry supporters to not vote for Romney and Huntsman:
"The view that Mormons are not Christians is the widely and strongly held view among Protestant pastors. That does not mean they do not respect Mormons as persons, share their values on family and have much in common. Yet, they simply view Mormonism as a distinct religion outside of basic teachings of Christianity. Many of these pastors may know Mormons who consider themselves Christians, but Protestant pastors overwhelmingly do not consider them such," said Stetzer. "I know this is an unpleasant question to many, and one that some will use as a hammer on evangelicals."
Mormons differ from most Protestants in how they view the Trinity. They also have scripture in addition to the Bible, such as the Book of Mormon, and believe in prophets such as Joseph Smith, Jr., who founded the Latter Day Saint movement. (Stetzer, Lifeway Research Study 2010)
And when Muslims say that they respect Ahmadis (Qadianis) as persons but can never accept them as Muslim as they diverge on a principle as fundamental as the trinity and have new prophets, they are considered 'narrow-minded' and 'extremist'.
The major difference between the social situation of the two is that the Mormons generally keep to themselves and do not criticize the Christians or the society of the country (United States) in which they have long felt alienated -- they accept it as the cost of being 'chosen'. The Ahmadis, however, have never uttered a single sentence in favor of Pakistan, boycotted elections and taken every opportunity to vilify and denigrate Pakistan and Muslims wherever they can -- with a Western-backed 'in-your-face' attitude that raises heckles of conservatives. And nor do the Mormons feel that it is their constitutional duty to preach on every street corner, and for this reason alone -- they are better tolerated than the Jehovah's Witnesses.
As I am fond of saying, Muslims in India and Pakistan and elsewhere would leave the Ahmadi religion alone if they were to stick to their beliefs and not trample on Muslims' right with the 'in-your-face' of 'real Islam' and their hyper-evangelical proselytization.
Dear Ahmadis, take a page from the Mormon Book. There might be some alienation, but a lot less discrimination. Not convinced? What are the chances of a Jehovah's Witness running for President in the United States.
Dear U.S. State Department, think about this next time you copy/paste Amjad Khan's submission into your Pakistan country report on human rights.

No match between Mormons and Ahmadies
Mormons and Ahmadis were stated same, in Christianity and Islam. But tell me one thing. How many countries have declare Mormons as officials Disbelievers? Not even from Vatican City. Christian might not understand them as Christians but they are not to be forced to called non Christians.
Here with the Ahmadies the situation is entirely different. I am quoting your sentence great sorrow that you do not know the situation. You wrote
“And when Muslims say that they respect Ahmdadis as persons”
Should this respect means to kill ahmadies where ever they found praying. They are not allowed to make their Mosques. They are forced to call themselves NON-MUSLIMS whereas they understand themselves as a Muslim. Is this you call RESPECT???
Boycotted of election is not to go against government but its due to that we are forced to cast the vote as non muslim. Which we cannot accept for second.
What you do you say about tolerance of jamat Ahmadiyya. Have ever listen that Jamat Ahmadiyya has burned the buildings blocked the roads etc because their claims are not acceptable to the government. But we do tolerated protest in courts and on media.
And how do you compare Mormons to Ahmadies. Just go to USA and kill atleast 86 Mormons (as happened last year in Lahore in our 2 mosques) stop them that they are not allowed to read bible or go to church or every not allowed to build a church. Then see what they will do you Mr Ahmad to whom you are claiming tolerated persons.
No match between Mormons and Ahmadies
The match is similarities of faith within a faith and a new prophet. The topic is not the treatment of these two communities in their countries but only the similarity of their faith.
We Ahmadis do not care if you
We Ahmadis do not care if you call us Kafir. It really doesn't bother me as a Muslim as according to the Hadith of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیه وسلم that Kufr will definitely fall on one of us. We have a problem with making it part of the constitution and forcing us to change our religion. The Holy Prophet of Islam (saw) didn't even do that. Allah had informed him of the hypocrites yet he never stopped them from preaching Islam. We are literally being stopped from practicing our religion. I hope you get the difference.
Hilarious
oh stop it...i am failed to understand that why cannot you see what the whole world can see?ahmadis are persecuted all over pakistan..we cannot build mosques and we cannot give azan..we cannot recite holy quran in public and we cannot say asslamualikum....some years ago our medical students were attacked and they were droped from college...86 people killed while praying and every year people are murdered in the name of so called khatm e nabuwat....yet there is no strike no commin out of homes..we dont expect even media to talk about it...because murder of one ahmadi in a day is not important to them..they only reported on lahore attacks because it was something they cannot hide from the world...huh.... thats your so called "islamic "republic of pakistan fears america would attack or willl not give aid if they know that we have not reported on minority attacked....pakistan no doubt is full of extremist groups who in the name of jihad provoke non ahmadis to kill ahmadis....this is a bitter truth....
Persecution? An absolutely wrong allegation.
".some years ago our medical students were attacked and they were droped from college.."
Do you know what they were doing? They were preaching Ahmadiya religion to Muslim students, distributing pamphlets, and pasting posters in hostel. Ahmadiya religion believes in a new prophet and Muslims believe their last prophet is Prophet Muhammad(pbuh). By law, Ahmadis are not allowed to preach their religion in Pakistan. They should respect the sentiments of Muslims and observe the law. If they violate the law and action is taken, they they call it persecution.
The author Ahmed has a very wise advise for you
"As I am fond of saying, Muslims in India and Pakistan and elsewhere would leave the Ahmadi religion alone if they were to stick to their beliefs and not trample on Muslims' right with the 'in-your-face' of 'real Islam' and their hyper-evangelical proselytization."
This is not the Persecution of Qadiani (Ahmadis)
"ahmadis are persecuted all over pakistan..we cannot build mosques and we cannot give azan..we cannot recite holy quran in public and we cannot say asslamualikum...."
This is the constitutional law of the country. You can build as many prayer places you want but don't name them mosques, you may call for prayer but don't call Azan, and why you have to recite holy quran in public? recite in your prayer places and in your houses. You are a proven different religion than Islam and declared non-Muslims by the parliament. And their is restriction on you to call yourself Muslims or use the terms of Islam for your rituals. You mislead people by calling yourself Muslims. You should go to Supreme Court if you feel you can justify that declaring you as Non-Muslims is human right violation. You have not gone since law is passed as you know all your religion is contrary to Islam's teachings. And your prophets and than his son Khalifa 2 has declared Muslims as kafir (non-muslims) and not to pray with them, or marry your daughters with muslims and to attend Muslim funerals. So why you insist that you are similar Muslims like mainstream Muslims. This is contrary to teachings of your prophet. Respect your religion and law of the country for peaceful co-existence. Your fraud to disguise under banner of Islam and call yourself Muslims was a strategy to fool Arab Muslims which has miserably flopped. Arabs know Quran in Arabic and very well knows meaning of "Khatam ul Nabieen" - No prophet after Prophet Muhammas(pbuh). In India and Pakistan you could fool some Muslims but every where else in Islamic World, you are the most unwanted persons. Malaysia and Indonesia has banned your religious activities. Majority of Bangladeshis are demanding their government to declare you non-Muslims. OIC & Muslim World Council have declared you Non-Muslims. You have misled some poor African Muslims by spending millions there in the name of Charity but those converted Africans are also concerting back to the real Islam. Learn from Mormins and stop preaching your religion as Islam. This is a pure deception and violate the human rights of Muslims.
Why Don't You Take A Moment To Critically Study Mirza's Books?
Look, gentelman! I'm sure most Ahmedis find their organisation to be so appealing that they hardly ever bother to dig into the writings of their so-called "Promised Messiah". Read his book, "Azalah-e-Auham" with an open mind; he starts off addressing the maulvis, but at the very beginning, he seeks to contradicts what the Quran so explicitly mentions at at least three places and in so many aayaat about the miracles of Hazrat-e-Eesa --- by quoting solely references from Injeel --- without mentioning even a single ayah of the Quran, even a single Hadith of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), and without mentioning even a single quote by the sahabah, the taabiheen, or auliyah-e-Islam. Now this subject at that particular place features as a topic in itself, carrying a heading of its own. So there's just no room for looking elsewhere.
Two of the faculty members at my university's department are Ahmeids, one senior professor, who's nearing 80 years of age, is on an HEC foreign faculty contract for the last six years (earning an amount of about three hundred thousand Pakistani rupees a month). He's not as bright as I'd initially thought he is. And, he's not so objective in his attitude as he should be. I've become very fond of him for some inexplicable reason, to the point of emotional attachment. It was merely after my attachment with him that I developed interest in the Ahmedi phenomenon; I have so far requested him thrice to take me into his faith, not because I've been convinced of the truth of your beliefs but merely because such a seasoned person as him is an adherent of this faith. Rather, his passion toward me grew significantly after I showed interest in his faith; previously he was so cruelly cold! He kept proselytising me without succeeding to convince me; he even went so far as assuring that once I'm one of them the community will also finance my eye-sight treatment should there be a cure possible for my eye condition. (I'm severely and chronically visually impaired.) On the one hand, he keeps going on about the evils of Pakistan (with particular reference to the persecution of his fellow Ahmedis), while always praising his own community for their high moral standards on the other.
However, I'm not at all impressed by his morality: as a case in point, on August 17 this year, we left his office together for the car-parking area. It was a hot, sunny day during the month of Ramazaan; when we got close to his car, he instantly got in, slammed the door, and speedily drove away, not even bothering to say or take salaam, let alone offereing a blind man a lift to his hostel accommodation not far away from the former's own apartment on-campus. Mind you, it's quite common even for total strangers to offer lift to within this not-so-vast-for-a-car campus. And, we'd already been on such cordial terms; this has been a recurrent phenomenon!
There're other accounts as well of how much the slogan of "love for all, hatred for none" is actually practised by that dear professor of mine, whom I affectionately call "Baaba". The predicament of the situation lies in the fact that he never tells me to close this chapter with him, thus keeping me hoping for his behavior to change. I'm not sure if I've been able to get my point across well enough for you to appreciate, but my point, I'm convinced, is not some degree of genuineness at least.
Mormonism vs Ahmadism
Kent Jackson, the associate dean of religion at Brigham Young University, says that while Mormons are Christians, “Mormonism is not part of the Christian family tree.”
Similarly, we say that while Ahmadis can consider themselves to be Muslims, Ahmadism is a distinct religion and does not subscribe to the Islamic creed.
Sikhs arose from Hindus but are not out there trying to tell Hindus that they are the 'real Hindus'. Bahais are an offshoot of Islam, but they don't call themselves 'real Islam' -- and neither do the Mormons.
Mormons generally keep to themselves -- and do not try to do 'tableegh' in every university and every place of work. Mormons developed their own terminology, and nor do they use Catholic or Anglican epithets for their saints -- unlike Ahmadis who want to use 'umm-ul-mumineen' for Mirza's wives.
So, if they tolerate and respect established Muslim beliefs, Muslims will continue to tolerate their exotic beliefs.
Coming to politics, were it not for Mirza Mahmud trying to 'go back to Qadian', and 'trying to convert Baluchistan to Ahmadism', and Mirza Nasir and Mirza Tahir trying to blackmail the PPP, there won't be a political backlash against them.
If Ahmadis respect Muslim beliefs, keep to themselves and stay away from politics -- genuinely -- things can start to reverse in the next 20 years or so.
Ask your leaders to give it a thought. However, it may be that their sole purpose is money-collecting, and not strategizing.
I Agree!
You've said the appropriate thing. Until August this year, I was secretly entertaining a sort of sympathy with the cult, but after I observed my Ahmedi professor closely and dug a little deep into the phenomenon upon his invitation to "convince myself a hundred percent" my opinion about Mirza Ghulaam Ahmed and the Qaadiaanis --- based primarily on "Hazrat-e-Ahmed", "Seerat-e-Mehdi", and "Azaalah-e-Auham" as my observation of my professor's conduct --- has changed for the worse considerably!
